Although Dr. Miller has led research projects focused on many game and non-game wildlife species during his tenure at UGA, he has always had a special passion for white-tailed deer.
Among his many career achievements, Dr. Miller was awared the Southeast Deer Study Group's Career Achievement Award for his contributions to the wildlife profession.

Dr. Karl V. Miller is a Wheatley Professor of Deer Management.
Dr. Miller received his B.S. in Entomology from Pennsylvania State University, his M.S. in Entomology from Ohio State University, and his Ph.D. in Forest Resources from the University of Georgia.
Current areas of investigation include varied projects designed to enhance deer populations and habitat quality on rural landscapes for recreational use while investigating means of mitigating deer-human conflicts in suburban and exurban landscapes. Research study sites extend from Pennsylvania to Texas. Dr. Miller and his graduate students have authored hundreds of scientific articles, book chapters, and technical reports, and he has co-written or co-edited five books. He, and his research team, have also presented more than 600 lectures at scientific meetings or continuing education events.
